L'IWC Portugieser es remunta al 1939, quan es va fabricar la Ref. 325 amb un moviment de rellotge de butxaca i una caixa notablement gran. La línia és coneguda pel seu disseny net de l'esfera i ha crescut fins a incloure versions amb complicacions, com el Perpetual Calendar del 2003. Instead of showing the date in a window, the Portugieser Tourbillon Mystère Rétrograde features a small hand pointing to a number on an arch-shaped scale. At the end of each month, the hand spring is no longer under tension and allows the date hand to jump back.
