L'IWC Portugieser es remunta al 1939, quan es va fabricar la Ref. 325 amb un moviment de rellotge de butxaca i una caixa notablement gran. La línia és coneguda pel seu disseny net de l'esfera i ha crescut fins a incloure versions amb complicacions, com el Perpetual Calendar del 2003. The Portugieser Tourbillon Mystère Rétrograde presents a tourbillon in a fascinating and innovative way. Instead of being housed in a cage, the rotating escapement is held from the bottom by a bearing and shown against a deep black background.
