This Big Pilot’s Watch (Ref. IW500401) is over a decade old, and was last serviced six years ago. Over time, the watch has developed visible scratches on the case and clasp, and several wearing parts show signs of use and require replacement. The watch has been sent to Schaffhausen for a full service. IWC Polisher, Anton Nujic, restores the case surfaces by first polishing the facets to regain their sharp, mirror-like shine. He then applies a satin finish to the flat areas, recreating the original contrast between polished edges and brushed surfaces that defines the Big Pilot’s Watch aesthetic. This is the fourth of seven steps in a full watch servicing.
