Il Portugieser di IWC nasce nel 1939, quando venne realizzato il Ref. 325 con un movimento da orologio da tasca e una cassa insolitamente grande. La linea è nota per il quadrante pulito e ordinato e si è ampliata fino a comprendere versioni complicate come il Perpetual Calendar del 2003. The introduction of Kurt Klaus’ Perpetual Calendar in 1985 marked the beginning of IWC Schaffhausen’s expertise in calendar complications. All the displays of this complication are perfectly synchronized with each other and can be easily advanced via the crown. The mechanical program is based on a four-year cycle of 48 months, representing three regular years of 365 days followed by a leap year of 366 days.
