Introducing a major leap forward in shock protection. The Big Pilot’s Watch Shock Absorber Tourbillon Skeleton XPL marks the first time IWC’s SPRIN-g PROTECT® system is used to protect a tourbillon, one of the most complex and delicate mechanisms in fine watchmaking. Adapting the shock absorber to cushion the tourbillon movement required the eight arms of the spring to be completely re-engineered. To further optimize performance, the movement and dial have been skeletonized. This reduces the overall mass of the protected movement, which has been tested to survive impact forces of up to 10,000 g.
